The STONEWALL Rebellion Veterans Association's ("S.V.A.") pre-parade, partial line-up off Fifth Avenue is shown on Sunday, June 28, 1998. Pictured above are (l-2-r): Terri Van Dyke, S.V.A. Treasurer (far left -- in all ways); Dave West, S.V.A. Public Relationist (wearing admiral hat); Cristina Hayworth (up from San Juan, Puerta Rica); S.V.A. Ambassadress (acting stoic and co-holding car sign); Electra O'Mara (smiling with hair pulled back and wearing glasses); S.V.A. Recording Secretary; Toni "La Putita Vieja" Polita, Back-of-the-Bus Ride Committee (co-holding car sign); Stormé DeLarverie, S.V.A. Vice-President (with rainbow military helmet); Molly Bee Aitken, Executive Committee (full-length black dress with sunglasses on head); Willson L. Henderson, S.V.A. President (standing sideways and wearing hot white linen pants); Thomas 'Tom' Robert "TRS" Stevens, S.V.A. General Secretary (right rear, peering over headtops); and Les Morgan, Executive Committee (little guy in front of big TRS). Ray McCaffrey, S.V.A. Financial Secretary, among others, was with us, too -- he took the S.V.A. group photo.

Many other (somewhat tardy) Stonewall veterans joined us for the Gay Pride Parade. Our special S.V.A. guest of honor was former U.S. Congressmember Geraldine A. Ferraro, who is a 1998 U.S. Senate candidate from New York. Rev. Magora Kennedy, the colorfully flamboyant S.V.A. Chaplain, performed the special "Stonewall Prayer", as she does every year, when the S.V.A. parade contingency stops in front of The Stonewall Club on Christopher Street along the parade route. The S.V.A. also does its annual photo-op in front of the place "where it all started". Every year the number of Stonewall Veterans is less and the significance is more!
