Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced landmarks across the state will be lit in honor of WorldPride and the L.G.B.T.Q. community, including the spire of One World Trade Center, the Kosciuszko Bridge, the Mid-Hudson Bridge, the SUNY Central Administration Building, the State Education Building, the Alfred E. Smith Building, the State Fair Exposition Center and LED boards featured at the State Fair Main Gate. The structures will be illuminated in the colors of the transgender flag Thursday June 27 and Friday June 28, in recognition of Trans Day of Action, and in the colors of the pride flag on Wednesday June 26, Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30 in celebration of Pride in New York. Additionally, Niagara Falls will be lit in the colors of the Pride flag on "Gay Pride Sunday", June 30th, and Friday, July 5th for its Pride at the Falls event, and The Herb Brooks Arena will light the ice in colors of the Pride flag during the Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships Thursday through Sunday.

"New York is the birthplace of the L.G.B.T.Q. rights movement, so it is fitting that on the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, we are hosting WorldPride," Governor Cuomo said. "This year we made historic progress with enactment of GENDA, the ban on conversion therapy and the repeal of the gay and trans panic legal defense. We have so much to be proud of, and the lighting of these landmarks sends a clear message to the world that LGBTQ people are welcomed in New York and we will continue fighting every day to ensure full equality."  And, it was declared: "As we mark Stonewall 50, New York is proud to be the host of WorldPride this year celebrating the diversity that makes us the Empire State!"

WorldPride, the largest international L.G.B.T.Q. Pride celebration, is being
held in New York this year, marking the first time it has been located in
the United States. This monumental commemoration includes parades, marches, performances, conferences and festivals that promote the LGBTQ rights movement. To welcome visitors to New York City for WorldPride and Stonewall 50, WorldPride welcome kiosks including banners, information and volunteers will be open at JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Airport baggage claim welcome centers through Sunday.

During Pride Month, Governor Cuomo has announced several initiatives and events to encourage and promote the WorldPride celebrations. On June 1, Governor Cuomo announced<https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-cuomo-announces-grand-opening-worldpride-welcome-center-new-york-citys-west-village> the opening of the New York State WorldPride Welcome Center on Christopher Street in New York City's West Village, just steps from the Stonewall National Monument.  On June 5th, the Governor announced <https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-cuomo-announces-opening-lgbtq-pride-month-exhibit-capitol> the opening of the LGBTQ Pride Month Exhibit
in the New York State Capitol, which honors the impact of L.G.B.T.Q. New Yorkers and includes portions of the International AIDS Quilt. The L.G.B.T.Q. Pride flag was also raised over the Capitol for the first time in history.  On June 13, Governor Cuomo announced <https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-cuomo-announces-winners-worldpride-2019-ambassadors-competition> the winners of
the New York State WorldPride Ambassadors Competition and highlighted their stories in a video <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTfcMzQyNtA&feature=youtu.be>.

Throughout his time in office, Governor Cuomo has been a national leader in championing L.G.B.T.Q. rights and issues and has fought back against the federal
government's ongoing attacks against the L.G.B.T.Q. community, including the military ban <https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/president-trumps-transgender-military-ban-takes-effect-governor-cuomo-directs-state-agencies> and the rollback of healthcare protections<https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/statement-governor-andrew-m-cuomo-trump-administrations-efforts-roll-back-healthcare> for transgender people. Earlier this year, Governor Cuomo signed into law the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act and legislation banning the deplorable practice of conversion therapy,
signifying a landmark victory for the L.G.B.T.Q. community.  On May 31st, Governor Cuomo announced the campaign to legalize gestational surrogacy and ban the gay and trans panic defense, and on June 19 the Governor celebrated <https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/statement-governor-andrew-m-cuomo-passage-ban-gay-and-trans-panic-legal-defense-0> the passage of the gay and trans panic defense ban.

All across the State, state agencies and New Yorkers have been celebrating Pride Month with several initiatives aimed at promoting the celebrations
and recognizing the L.G.B.T.Q. community. From Montauk to Buffalo and Staten Island to the North Country, Governor Cuomo has had representatives at
Pride marches and events across New York State, celebrating and supporting local L.G.B.T.Q. communities everywhere they are.

The MTA announced custom WorldPride MetroCards and Pride trains. The New
York Port Authority of New York and New Jersey have numerous Pride actions
to celebrate and welcome visitors coming to New York for WorldPride, including rainbow columns at Christopher Street and 9th Street P.A.T.H. stations, rainbow columns and flags in the Oculus, rainbow floor decals at Port Authority Bus terminal and George Washington Bridge Bus Station.

On June 15th, Four Freedoms State Park unveiled New York City's largest L.G.B.T.Q. Pride flag, which will be displayed until the end of the month of June. The Battery Park City Authority has adorned Rockefeller Park in a large scale pride flag lawn painting, which will remain for several weeks. On June 20th, the New York State Division of Human Rights held a webinar on GENDA and
L.G.B.T.Q. rights in New York State for over 300 people and the webinar is now available <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEk_uf1gDkI&feature=youtu.be> permanently, as part of an ongoing initiative to ensure that every New
Yorker knows their rights under the law.

Governor Andrew Cuomo Provides Proclamation to the S.V.A.

Although Governor A.M. Cuomo and the First Lady Sandra Lee were upstate on pre-arranged official business, the governor personally sent a high-ranking, openly Gay official David Alden Turley.  He attended the annual "S.V.A. Conference & Reunion" and stayed!  Alden presented the Governor's Proclamation to the SVA's founder and director Willson Henderson.  But first, the significant proclamation on the 49th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion and the foirthcoming 49th anniversary of the S.V.A., was publicly well-read by Alden.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Pride Tribute to the G.L.B.T. Community

New York State's superfine Governor Andrew Mario Cuomo ("AMC") sponsored a wonderful, happy and Gay cocktail party with served quality foods.  Gay event was for specially invited, prominent and worthwhile members of the G.L.B.T. community.  New York's lovely  (in all ways) First Lady Sandra Lee was so sincere at personally working the entire welcoming crowd.  Representing the S.V.A. were its founder and director Willson L. Henderson and general manager AnDre M. Christie.  The Cuomo Family has been a supporter of the STONEWALL Veterans' Association since the 'mayoral' Summer of 1977!  Representing PRIDE Democrats of NYC, the only other longtime GLBT group supporter of AMC, was Steven L. Gradman and Marlon W. Hunter.  The upbeat event was joyfully hosted by openly-Gay, former NYC Council speaker Christine Quinn.  WLH presented the Cuomos with two original "Songs of the Stonewall Club Jukebox" compact discs.  Willson assured that they will love the songs from Sinatra to The Supremes and 25 other artists!  "The Happening" today was @ 6 to 8 p.m. at the scenic Hudson Terrace overlooking the Hudson River!

NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo Presents the S.V.A. with a Proclamation

This NYS governor, Andrew Mario Cuomo, is the most respectful and thoughtful governor of the STONEWALL Rebellion Veterans Association ("SVA") than any of his predecessors -- though they were albeit much lesser degrees!  This year, the governor's high-ranking, openly-Gay, state legal counsel Alphonso "Alfie" David personally partcipated and presented the Proc at the SVA's well-attended annual "S.V.A. Conference & Stonewall Veterans Reunion".  Later, Alfie had a WLH-planned exit theme of , what-else, the Stonewall song "Alfie" (by Dionne Warwick).
